Lipstick, Superman and School

Every princess needs to keep lipstick and a mirror in her princess bag. Here is the application. Here is the result.
Superman will let a princess put some lipstick on him every now and then but mostly he prefers to be himself.
On week days all good princesses who are now 5 will go off to school.
Here is the school uniform dress rehearsal from Saturday morning.
"Guess what Mum, today I get to go to school!"
The day finally arrived.

Today Lachlan and Mum stayed home while the big kids went to the movies with Dad.Lachie loves animals of all kinds, espeically cats dogs and lions. He loves to take his dog for a walk,

to give Jessie the cat, pats and cuddles
and he is never far from a screw driver or two. Tools are his favourite things at the moment.

Kidzone Fun

We took Nana and Grandad to Kidzone, which is a big festival for kids held in the winter school holidays here. It was amazing.

Home from holiday and Birthday time for a 5 year old

This is Monkey from Kindy. Just before you turn 5, you are chosen to bring Monkey home to your house for a weekend. Kate was so excited when she realised all the clues the Kindy teacher was given, pointed to her. Monkey is somewhat of a celebrity and this was definitley a highlight of Kate's time at kindy.
Visiting the Lion Park was one of the highlight of our holiday and since we have been back, Kate has been building Lion parks with the blocks and toy lions. The parks come complete with platforms for the Lionesses to jump up on, caves for the pride to rest in out of the sun, and seasaws and climbing frames for the cubs.
When we got home from holiday, Kate had one last week at Kindy before the school holidays and starting school. On the Friday Kate had her Kindy birthday with Anika, who will start school one week later than Kate and in the same class. The girls made birthday hats and cakes. Some of the Mums had painted all of the kids' faces for the last day. They were amazing.
This is Megan, Kate's small group teacher at Kindy. She did mat time for the Kindy birthday.
Kate gave Kindy a Lion costume to say Goodbye and thank you.
Liam and Kate, very best of friends. The princess birthday cake.
"I am 5". Kate was awake very early on her birthday morning. She got lots of lovey gifts from people all centered around Princesses,Barbies and making things. This is her new princess dress.

Lachie thinks the Princess Sleeping Bag is awesome too.
Kate had a birthday party that afternoon. It was very exciting waiting for it to start.

Birthday guests and party food! A big thank you to everyone for coming and for the lovely presents. It was such a great day.
Blowing out 5 candles.
All those people were quite overwhelming. Lachie kept a watchful eye on proceedings from the safe arms of Grandad, Nana or Dad.
Then he thought he would give cutting the cake a go too!
The next morning, the kids were still partying, singing and dancing and dressing up.

Holiday time

We have all had the most wonderful holiday in the North Island. We got to see lots of our family and friends. This is Uncle Hamish and Aunty Faith's fantastic spa pool. It is big enough to fit everybody in. There were heaps of great people to spend time with and things to do at their house. Lachie and James loved going on the swings together.
Kate and Sam both loved Pippa the dog and they learnt lots about how to be Pippa's friend. Lachie especially loved Aunty Faith's other dog Bear, who is older and slower.
This is our new cousin and nephew Bruce He is really lovely and Kate espcially loved to spend time with him.

We went swimming in the lovely warm pools in Rotorua. Sam got new goggles for the occasion.

And we went to the most amazing Lion park. This is Lachie and James at the end of our time there.
This is Jenny the Lioness

and Ben the Lion, before their feeding time.
We all got to pat 5month old Lion cub Chase. Wow!

This is Lachie all dressed up to support the All Blacks playing Ireland that night in New Plymouth.

We spent 5 days in Hamilton with Aunty Sarah, Uncle Shane, MacKenzie and Alex while Daddy worked at the field days. The girls had a wonderful time playing together.
Lachie loved MacKenzie's lion costume.
We all went to see Dad at the Field days in Mystery Creek. We had a great time with the animals and on the big machines.

MacKenzie and Alex held their birthday party while we were staying. It was a Peter Pan and Wendy party. Sam got a turn to dress up as Captain Hook, Kate went as Tinkerbell, and Lachie as a lion. Mackenzie was a beauiful Wendy and Alex was Peter Pan. Birthday parties are so much fun!
