Our Friend Baby Lamb

Baby Lamb arrived in October 2007. She was one of a set of triplets which was a bit much for her Mum, so she came to live with us. She has grown up with all the kids and been in to all sorts of mischief with them. Kate likes to remember how Baby Lamb lived in the playhouse, how she liked to come inside and do wees on the carpet, and all the times that Kate would let Baby Lamb out of her paddock so that they could play together on the lawn. However, unfortunately on Monday afternoon, Baby Lamb passed away. She was very sick with complications due to being in lamb. We held a lovely wee burial for her on Monday night and the kids all gave Baby Lamb some flowers, and Sam patted down the dirt saying "its a good idea to pat down the dirt Dad, that'll make Baby Lamb snuggly warm". To be honest, it has all been very sad and Baby Lamb is definitely missed. However, since then Kate especially, has enjoyed remembering all the Baby Lamb stories and she chose the photos we have put on here today. One day old and living in the garage.
Getting bigger, and living in the playhouse outside, with a wee attached paddock built by Dad.
Baby Lamb followed kate everywhere, and even when she was all grown up, if we wanted Baby Lamb to go anywhere, we could just get Kate to lead her there.

This is one of Baby Lambs sneaky visits inside.
The kids obviously can't see much of a problem with the situation.
She did eventually move into the paddock with the rest of the sheep.

The kids and Jessie especially like to visit Baby Lamb when she lived in the paddock behind the house. And this is the paddock, Kate liked to let her out of all the time, so that they could play.

The following photos were taken on Saturday, when we first knew that Baby Lamb was sick. Everybody sure has grown!

The Boys

Lachie has discovered pockets, bats and balls and is generally a mischevious wee rascal.

Sam and Lachie

Sammy loves to be outside. He drives his tractor down "the steep and dangerous road" which is great fun. Unfortunatley, before he figured out how to turn at the bottom of the first track, Sammy and the tractor went head first over a second "steep and dangerous road" which wasn't quite as successful as it is surrounded in trees, long grass and a fence... However, it did not curb his enthusiasm. He thought "being a turtle with the tractor" was a great story too.
This is Lachie swimming and blowing bubbles in the bath. He thinks he is a smarty pants being abole to do tricks the big kids do.
